NEMCO Motorsports’ NASCAR XFINITY Series History

…at the Daytona International Speedway

This weekend will mark NEMCO Motorsports’ 42nd NASCAR XFINITY Series start at the 2.5-mile tri-oval superspeedway. The organization posted two victories (1998, 2002) at the track with Joe Nemechek, and has led 216. The 41 starts at the Daytona International Speedway have earned NEMCO Motorsports an average starting position of 17.1 and an average finish of 24.5.

…since entering the NASCAR XFINITY Series in 1989

The Mooresville, N.C., based organization has logged 547 starts from 26 drivers, resulting in a NASCAR XFINITY Series owner and driver championship (1992) and strong performances that include 19 victories with drivers Joe Nemechek and Ron Fellows, and 80 top-five finishes, as well as 133 top-10 finishes with an average starting position of 19.9 and an average finishing position of 21.3. NEMCO Motorsports boasts 19 pole awards in the NASCAR XFINITY Series.

NEMCO Motorsports driver John Hunter Nemechek, son of NASCAR XFINITY Series champion and team owner Joe Nemechek, has one NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) start (2016) at the Daytona International Speedway.

From 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. (ET) Joe Nemechek, driver of the No. 87 Fleetwing Toyota for NEMCO Motorsports, will be signing autographs at the Super Kwik located at 742 S. Combee Road, Lakeland, Fla. 33801. In addition, the No. 87 Fleetwing Toyota NASCAR XFINITY Series entry will be on display from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. (ET).

The Subway Firecracker 250 Powered by Coca-Cola will be broadcast live on NBCSN on Friday, July 1 starting with the pre-race show at 7:00 p.m. (ET). It will also broadcast live at 7:00 p.m. (ET) on the Motor Racing Network (MRN) and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio. Coors Light Pole Qualifying for the 15th event of the 2016 NASCAR XFINITY Series season will air on Friday at 2:00 p.m. (ET) on NBCSN. In addition, the practice sessions on Thursday, June 30 will be televised live on NBCSN beginning at 2:00 p.m. (ET).

Joe Nemechek — No. 87 Fleetwing Toyota Camry

This Week’s NEMCO Motorsports Toyota Camry at the Daytona International Speedway … Joe Nemechek will pilot Chassis No. 112 in the Subway Firecracker 250 Powered by Coca-Cola at the Daytona International Speedway. The Jim Mazza-led team last unloaded this NEMCO Motorsports prepared chassis at the Daytona International Speedway on February 20, finishing in the 19th-postion after starting 28th on the grid.

Locally Sourced … Fleetwing Corporation, a multi-branded petroleum jobber established in 1956, will adorn the sides and hood of the No. 87 Fleetwing Toyota Camry driven by Joe Nemechek at the Daytona International Speedway as a primary sponsor. Based in Lakeland, Fla., Fleetwing Corporation is family-owned and operated.

 At the ‘World Center of Racing’ … This weekend marks Joe Nemechek’s 34th Daytona International Speedway appearance with the NASCAR XFINITY Series. The Lakeland, Fla., driver has earned an average starting position of 16.2 and an average finishing position of 20.9 at the 2.5-mile track. Nemechek has five pole awards and collected two victories (1998, 2002), four top-five and seven top-10 finishes. In addition, he has collected the all-time NASCAR XFINITY Series most starts, including the most laps completed (3,211), and number of pole awards at the Daytona International Speedway. Across the top three NASCAR divisions Nemechek has 73 total starts at the ‘World Center of Racing.’

Race Rewind: Daytona International Speedway … Joe Nemechek, driver of the No. 87 D.A.B. Constructors, Inc., Toyota Camry for NEMCO Motorsports, finished 19th on February 20 in the Powershares QQQ 300 NASCAR XFINITY Series race at the Daytona International Speedway.

In the Loop … Joe Nemechek is second in the NASCAR XFINITY Series, four laps behind Kyle Busch, in green flag passes with 2,296. Fastest laps go hand-in-hand with success – Nemechek ranks 10th, with 26 fastest laps run. In addition, Nemechek has spent 679 laps running in the top 15.
